Well-Built But Vulnerable

The population of Ontario’s turtles is dwindling. These dinosaurs of the wildlife world are often overlooked, and their hard shells are not enough to protect them from human impact. They need our help. At Toronto Wildlife Centre, turtles are not forgotten. Every life saved makes a big difference to the survival of their species.

Concerned residents called the Toronto police who then reached out to our Wildlife Hotline for help. Worried the large bird could be struck at any moment, our Rescue Team was soon on their way.

Saving injured and orphaned fawns

White-tailed deer are majestic and peaceful animals. But they’re challenging patients to care for due to their size and extreme sensitivity. They can become easily frightened and stressed (which can be fatal), especially around the people trying to help them. As babies, they’re even more vulnerable. Those who become injured and/or orphaned, after tragically losing their mothers, need our help. Thanks to the generosity of the Lindal Family, we have the resources to care for them for the first time in our 30-year history. Four helpless orphaned fawns were carefully raised at TWC this year! Watch them grow day by day, until the wonderful moment they return to the wild.
